If your dreams don't scare you...

What are your dreams this summer?I have a plaque in our sitting room with the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf quote "If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough". My husband, Rhys, & I have made most of our choices in life with this view in mind: Newly married & having both lost our jobs in one gut-wrenching weekend; Rhys applied to the Royal College of Art to do his Masters & I travelled up & down the M4 in a National Express coach interviewing for jobs that would support us both in Central London. He got in! Almost a decade later, we happily discovered I was pregnant with Tydeman (our eldest) & Rhys was offered a job with Nokia Design,...

Behind the Scenes of Trinity's photoshoot

Meet Trinity – the new “face” on my feed & the girl that my son, Tydeman, is very lucky to have as his girlfriend!  When Trinity posted a picture on her Instagram feed wearing the Carnelian Long Drop Earrings we had given her for her birthday I knew I had found my next “model”. One of my brand “goals” or “guidelines” that I stated when I started my line was that I would only use friends & family as my models – not only from the “real products for real people” stand point but also these people are my encouragement & support in what I’m doing & in turn I want to share with you the amazing things that they...

To thine own self be true

Starting a business, like many of the "grown-up" things in life, is hard! There are ups & downs, bumps & set-backs to be weathered as well as the celebrations! As a new mom, I soon realized the wealth of knowledge in other moms, especially those with kids a few years older than mine who could share what had worked, or not worked (just as helpful to know!) for them. And it's the same as a new business owner, one of my greatest resources are the #womeninbusiness who have gone before me - I am very lucky to have friends & friends of friends willing to share their knowledge & experience!  Last week I learned a lot! To be honest, I'd be floundering a little...

#outandaboutwithmyelzevir - Nina

When I bumped into Nina this week at Juicy Ladies, one of our favorite healthy haunts, she was carrying her black leather Elzevir. As we sipped Green Juice, she enthused about her bag; "It's so comfortable! I had some aches & pains carrying some of my previous bags but my Elzevir sits so comfortably on my shoulder, I have none of that now."                     A personal trainer & Beatbike devotee, with 2 kids away at college & "momager" to her youngest daughter, who's setting out on an exciting dance career, you can spot  Nina's little Brit-flag painted Mini zipping about town. "And this," Nina said, pulling out the keychain, "it's genius! I never loose...

Our "Nightingale"

The “Nightingale” started singing outside our bedroom window last weekend.      I hadn’t realized how much I missed the birdsong last summer – I don’t know if it was the severe drought SoCal has been trapped in for the last 4 years but the mornings were sadly quieter & in particular we missed our “Nightingale”.  Neither Rhys nor I are great ornithologists so we’re not sure if the first bird to call in the morning & set off the dawn chorus is in fact a Nightingale but his song is beautiful, so that is what we call him & we are very happy to have him back. Thanks to this winter’s rain, the hills, that have been grey & parched,...
